The Showroom
Every Floor We Install, in Full-Size Samples
- Real species samples Oak, maple, hickory, walnut and the rest at full scale, so you see how the grain reads across a room rather than on a chip.
- Stain colors on real wood Natural and light through to dark and ebony, applied to the species you are considering, not printed on a card.
- Finishes demonstrated Bona and other professional systems, oil-based and water-based, matte, satin and gloss, so you see what ambering does before it happens in your living room.
- Somebody who fits floors Not a salesperson. Ask what holds up in a kitchen with two dogs and you get an honest answer.
Solid vs Engineered Hardwood vs Luxury Vinyl Plank
Three different products, one crew. Which one belongs in your room usually comes down to what is under the floor and how much water it will ever see.
Solid Hardwood
Red oak, white oak, cherry and more, in any width from narrow strip to wide plank. Nailed down over a wood subfloor, one board at a time. It is the only floor you can sand back and refinish again and again, which is why floors we laid in the 1950s are still going.
Engineered Hardwood
A real hardwood surface over a layered core. Same species and same look as solid, red oak, white oak, cherry, but far steadier where solid wood fights back. It goes over a concrete slab and over radiant heat, glued or floated, and it holds its shape through a New Jersey summer.
Luxury Vinyl Plank
Waterproof, so it goes where wood should not: basements, laundry rooms, mud rooms, anything below grade. Glued down or click-locked over an underlayment. Good LVP reads convincingly as wood underfoot and shrugs off the spill that would ruin a hardwood board.
Hardwood Floor Species: Red Oak, White Oak and More
All seven in solid and in engineered. Palest to darkest.
Maple
Nearly white sapwood, fine even grain. The palest floor we lay.
White Ash
Light gray-brown, sometimes tinged red, with bold straight grain.
Red Oak
Light biscuit to medium brown with a faintly pink cast. Open grain.
White Oak
Light to medium brown with an olive cast. Tannin lets it take custom effects.
Hickory
Reddish-brown with dark stripes against creamy sapwood. Boards vary a lot.
Cherry
Starts pinkish-red and darkens to deep reddish-brown, mostly within 90 days.
Walnut
Grayish-brown to dark chocolate. Lightens with age rather than darkening.
Color on a screen is not color in a room. Come by the showroom and see the wood in person. We keep the species we lay most on hand, and can order in the rarer ones or anything else you have in mind. Not sure which one your room calls for? That is what the estimate is for. We will look at the subfloor, the moisture and how the room actually gets used, then tell you honestly which of the three we would put down and why.

Hardwood Floor Installation Reviews
How We Install
Hardwood Floors
A new hardwood floor changes a room more than almost anything else you can do to it. How it is installed decides whether it looks right for ten years or fifty.
Certified Hardwood Floor Installers
Our nationally certified installers handle solid and engineered hardwood for homes across Holmdel, Middletown, Red Bank, Freehold and the surrounding Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Mercer County towns, fully licensed and insured from the first board to the last.
Subfloor Prep and Moisture Testing
A floor is only as good as what's underneath it. We remove and dispose of your old flooring, check moisture and humidity levels, then re-screw and reinforce the existing subfloor for the kind of stability that keeps floors flat and quiet for decades.
Moisture Barrier and Proper Fasteners
In place of standard rosin paper, we lay a high-performance Vapor Shield moisture barrier, and we fasten every board with manufacturer-recommended cleats instead of ordinary staples — a tighter, more secure hold that resists the squeaks and movement cheaper installs are known for.
Backed by a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
These steps may seem small, but they're what separate floors that look great for 10 years from floors that look great for 50. Every project is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
