The Details Beneath the Surface

What sets our installation process apart is the attention we give to the details beneath the surface. Every project begins with a review of your home's moisture and humidity levels to ensure the environment is right for hardwood flooring. We then reinforce the existing plywood subfloor by re-screwing it for added stability before installation begins.

Better Materials, Better Results

Instead of standard rosin paper, we install a high-performance vapor barrier called Vapor Shield, and we secure each board using manufacturer-recommended cleats rather than ordinary staples.

The Difference 50-Year Floors Are Made Of

These steps may seem small, but they make a big difference. The difference between floors that look great for 10 years and floors that look great for 50 comes down almost entirely to how well they're installed.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Solid vs. Engineered Hardwood

Both are real hardwood. The right choice depends on where it's going, what's underneath it, and how your home deals with humidity. We'll help you pick during the consultation. Here's a quick overview.

Solid Hardwood

One continuous piece of wood from top to bottom. The traditional standard. Can be sanded and refinished many times over its lifetime.

Can be refinished 5–10+ times over its life
Best for above-grade installation on wood subfloors
Wide variety of species, widths, and grades
Not recommended for basements or over concrete

Best for: Living rooms, bedrooms, main floors

Engineered Hardwood

A real hardwood veneer bonded over multiple plywood layers. More dimensionally stable than solid. Handles humidity and moisture much better.

Resists warping and humidity changes
Can go over concrete subfloors and radiant heat
On-grade and below-grade installation possible
Thinner wear layer limits refinishing cycles

Best for: Kitchens, basements, over concrete

Hardwood Installation FAQ

Most installation jobs take 2–5 days depending on the size of the space and what's being removed. If the floors are being sanded and finished on-site after installation, add 3–5 days for that process. We'll give you a specific timeline at the consultation.
Yes. We install both. The right choice depends on your subfloor type, which level of the home you're flooring, moisture conditions, and your preferences. We'll walk you through both options and make a recommendation during the consultation.
No. Floor removal and disposal are included in our service. We take care of it so you don't have to coordinate a separate haul-away.
We work with all common species: red oak, white oak, maple, hickory, and walnut. Red and white oak are the most popular in NJ homes for their durability and stain flexibility. If you have a specific species in mind, ask. We can likely source it.
No. We source materials through our suppliers. We'll give you options based on your budget and style preferences. That said, if you've already purchased material or want to use a specific product, we can work with that too.
Some dust is inevitable during removal and cutting, but we use containment methods and clean up thoroughly at the end of each day. During the sanding and finishing phase, we use dustless sanding equipment that captures the vast majority of particles at the source.
